In Indonesia, the role of cooperatives in national economy is not quite prominent yet. The existing cooperatives are still small and difficult to develop. Besides, the number is still small in comparison to state-owned companies and private companies.
There are a number of factors which make cooperatives in Indonesia difficult to develop, some of which are the people's low awareness of cooperatives, lack of capital, and low quality of human resource owned by the cooperatives. This chapter will discuss what cooperatives are and how they should be managed. After studying this chapter, students and teachers are expected to love cooperatives.
Di Indonesia, koperasi belum begitu tampak berperan dalam perekonomian nasional. Koperasi-koperasi yang ada cenderung kecil dan sulit berkembang. Selain itu, jumlah yang ada pun tidak sebanyak BUMN dan BUMS.
Sulit berkembangnya koperasi di Indonesia disebabkan beberapa faktor, di antaranya rendahnya kesadaran berkoperasi masyarakat, kekurangan modal untuk pengembangan, dan rendahnya kualitas SDM yang berada dalam koperasi itu sendiri.
Pada bab ini diperkenalkan apa itu koperasi, dan bagaimana pengelolaannya. Diharapkan dengan adanya materi ini siswa dan guru menjadi mengenal dan mencintai badan usaha yang bernama "Koperasi."
